About the bank
Promsvyazbank is a relatively young bank. It was founded in 1995 to finance companies in the telecommunications industry. Since this sector was just beginning to develop at the time, many mobile operators and internet providers took loans from Promsvyazbank.
Thanks to a large number of clients at the start, the credit institution was able to grow and develop actively. Thus, already in 1998 Promsvyazbank entered the TOP-100 banks of Russia, and in 2005 — the TOP-15.
The right choice of industry allowed the company to hold up even during crises. For example, in 2009 Promsvyazbank was recognized as the most reliable bank. It even surpassed the well-known VTB and Alfa-Bank.
In 2018, despite the 2014 crisis, Promsvyazbank was chosen by the Government as a specialized bank for operations on state defense orders and large government contracts. At the time of writing, the credit institution was among the TOP-10 largest financial companies in Russia. Promsvyazbank was also recognized as one of the systemically important banks of the Russian Federation.
According to the latest data, more than 50% of Promsvyazbank's shares are controlled by its founders — brothers Dmitry and Alexey Ananyev, through the banking group “Promsvyaz Capital B.V.”. Other major shareholders of the bank include the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Moscow Credit Bank (MCB), and the Safmar group of companies (which owns the retail chains M.Video and Eldorado).
Since 2018, the chairman of the board of Promsvyazbank is Petr Fradkov.
