About the bank
The bank known today as Sovcombank was originally registered in 1990 as Buykombank. For many years, it operated within the Kostroma region without widespread reach. However, the situation changed in 2002. Russian entrepreneurs Sergey Khotimsky and Mikhail Klyukin bought Buykombank and renamed it Sovcombank in early 2003. Since then, the bank has operated under this name. Throughout 2003, Sovcombank's services were provided through a single branch in the city of Kostroma. In 2004, the bank began active expansion, opening new branches not only in Kostroma but also in other cities of the region.
Until 2007, Sovcombank served clients in the Kostroma region. However, it was not popular because larger financial organizations also had branches in the same region.
In 2007, the foreign company TBIC Financial Services BV bought exactly half of the bank's shares, which allowed for an increase in capital, expansion of the organization's area of operation, growth of the client base, and much more. In 2012, TBIC Financial Services BV sold its stake to other Sovcombank shareholders.
Today, Sovcombank is one of the largest and most stable credit institutions in Russia. The bank holds a strong position in the market, and millions of people use its services. The bank is also known for its offers for pensioners, who make up a significant portion of its clients.
The Chairman of the Board of Sovcombank is Dmitry Gusev, who owned a 7.67% stake in the bank at the end of 2019. The primary and ultimate shareholder is the Dutch company SovCo Capital Partners N.V. Other investors are located in Russia, Saudi Arabia, China, Japan, and other countries in the Middle East and Asia. Additionally, a portion of the shares belongs to former RosEuroBank shareholders Ilya Brodsky and Andrey Suzdaltsev.
