Gazprombank

Gazprombank began its operations in 1990. Back then, it operated as a commercial bank for the gas industry. In 1996, it changed its legal form to a limited liability company (LLC), in 2001 to a closed joint-stock company (CJSC), and in 2007 to an open joint-stock company (OJSC).

Gazprombank's largest and most well-known transaction is the acquisition of Areximbank shares. It took place as follows:

• in November 2007, Gazprombank bought 80% of Areximbank shares;
• in July 2008, Gazprombank bought additional shares so that it came to own 94.15% of the total stake;
• in September 2008, Gazprombank bought the remaining 5.85% of Areximbank shares from Raiffeisenbank;
• in October 2016, all Areximbank shares were sold to Armenian investors.

This transaction allowed Gazprombank to increase its assets and expand its operating territory.

Today, 100% of type A preferred shares are owned by the state represented by the Ministry of Finance, and 100% of type B preferred shares are owned by the Deposit Insurance Agency. Ordinary shares are distributed among major shareholders:

• 29.76% of the stake belongs to PJSC Gazprom;
• 16.25% — Gazprom Capital LLC;
• 41.58% — Gazfond NPF;
• 3.86% — Novfintech LLC;
• 8.53% — VEB.RF State Development Corporation. As for management, Alexey Miller is the Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Andrey Akimov is the Chairman of the Management Board.

Gazprombank's core activities are geared toward corporate clients and financial institutions. However, the bank also provides services to individuals.
