Number of loans

How many loans can one person take out

When having an active loan, borrowers often apply to the bank again. The purpose of such an application is frequently to resolve emerging financial difficulties. Most often, clients do not wish to change banks, so they re-apply to the credit institution with which they already have agreements. Let us figure out how many loans one can have in a single bank or across different institutions.

How many loans can you take from one bank

The number of active loans may be limited only by the borrower's solvency. Each bank sets its own internal limits in this regard. For example, Sberbank allows issuing 2 or more loans to a single individual. The main requirement is to maintain sequence, meaning each subsequent loan is issued exclusively after the previous one. This practice is also applied by other major Russian banks.

If a borrower has the capacity to repay several loans simultaneously, it makes little difference to the bank how many agreements are concluded with them. Verified and solvent clients have a better chance of repeat lending at the same bank than new borrowers.

In addition to financial capabilities, the borrower must meet several requirements:

  • have no overdue payments or violations on open loans;
  • absence of extraneous credit obligations—excessive debt burden may cause a negative decision on a repeat application;
  • availability of documents and additional information required by the bank to issue a second loan.

When reviewing an application, bank employees necessarily check the debt burden placed on the client. Repayment of debts for all existing obligations should take no more than half of the client's earnings. If this figure is exceeded, the bank will refuse to issue a repeat loan to its client.

How many loans can you take from different banks

A person can take out several loans simultaneously in different banks. Solvent borrowers who enjoy the trust of credit institutions and do not exceed the maximum allowable debt burden limits receive positive decisions.

If we are talking about a small loan, a borrower with average national income may have at least 3 unpaid loans simultaneously. Consequently, the number of loans a person can take out in different banks at the same time depends solely on their income. The higher a citizen's income, the more funds they can borrow from one or different credit institutions. As in the first case, the bank may refuse to grant a loan to a borrower under certain circumstances, for example, when the costs of servicing existing debt exceed 50% of the monthly income, as well as in the presence of overdue payments and other violations.

There may be many reasons for refusal. Any debt burden is initially viewed by lenders as a negative circumstance (encumbrance). If such a client experiences financial problems, recovering funds will be more difficult than if they had a single loan.

How many credit cards can you have in one bank

The situation is different with credit cards. When it comes to opening them in a single bank, credit institutions establish the following rules: an individual can have only one bank card with an open credit line.

If a person has several credit cards, they are most likely opened in different institutions. In rare cases, an individual can use several cards from the same bank; it all depends on the rules established within the organization.

Certain banks may issue multiple credit cards to a single person who is a reliable and solvent client. Organizations may offer personalized proposals for issuing additional credit cards.

Such a restriction is not established regarding debit cards. The holder can have several products simultaneously. Most often, after issuing the main card, it is possible to get additional ones linked to the main account. Most banks do not charge a maintenance fee for additional cards.

Can you have a credit card and a loan simultaneously in the same bank

A credit card and a loan are different credit lines. The sequence of issuing such products does not matter. This combination is allowed by most credit institutions. Clients who duly pay off their loan debt and use the card without violations are of particular interest to the bank.

Cooperation with verified and solvent clients is a priority for any credit institution. Banks strongly encourage clients to use additional products and services. After a client takes out a loan and makes timely payments, the bank notices that the borrower is solvent and reliable. Next, the organization offers them a credit card with a high limit. Most of the time, the client agrees, and the bank provides them with a credit card without additional checks. This technique is actively used by many credit institutions.

 If the client refuses the bank's offer the first time, similar proposals will be sent to them repeatedly in the future. Note that this practice does not violate consumer protection laws.
