How to find out the bank by BIC

BIC stands for Bank Identification Code. Knowing it, anyone can easily find out in which specific bank the account was opened. Just like the account number, it consists of a numerical combination:

• the first two digits indicate the country to which the organization belongs (the code for Russia is 04);
• the next two indicate the state's region;
• the next two digits are the branch number;
• the remaining ones are the credit institution number.

You can find out the bank's name by its BIC on your own: there are enough online services to identify credit institutions, such as BIC directories.
