What you can pay for with a QIWI wallet

A QIWI wallet is a versatile payment tool. This means it can be used to pay for virtually all categories of goods and services, as we can see by opening the main page of the official website.

QIWI wallet guide

With its help, you can:

  • transfer money between wallets and to cards of any Russian banks;
  • transfer money to bank settlement accounts;
  • repay loans and microloans;
  • pay for mobile communications, TV, and internet;
  • pay utility bills;
  • deposit money into internal wallets of network companies (such as Avon, Faberlic, LR, etc.);
  • engage in charity;
  • pay for services of travel companies;
  • pay fines and taxes;
  • deposit money into wallets on social networks, etc.

In fact, this is not even the full list of what a QIWI wallet allows you to pay for. The complete list is provided on the website itself.

How to make payments using a QIWI wallet

There are several ways to pay for services using a QIWI wallet. The simplest is through the payment system's official website. It is slightly more complicated through a terminal or on the service provider's website. Let us look at each method in a bit more detail.

Via the QIWI website

Paying for a service through the QIWI website is the easiest. To do this, simply:

  1. Follow the link: https://qiwi.com/payment/category.
  2. Select the required category (for example, "Mobile communications").
  3. Select the desired telecom operator.
  4. Enter the phone number and top-up amount.
  5. Make the payment.

You can pay for any service on the website in approximately the same way. The only difference will be the payment details.

Via terminal

It is not always possible to use the official website of the payment system, so people sometimes resort to paying via terminals. This can be done as follows:

  1. Select "Pay for services" in the main menu.
  2. Select a service. You can do this either on the main screen or in the "Search all services" field.
  3. Fill in the required details.
  4. Insert money into the bill acceptor.
  5. Make the payment.

How to pay using QIWI in an online store

You can also pay for goods and services directly on the supplier's website. To do this, you will need to:

  1. Add the desired item to the cart and proceed to checkout.
  2. Select "QIWI Wallet" as the payment method.
  3. Enter the phone number linked to the payment system.
  4. Enter the customer's one-time code as confirmation.

Fees for payments and transfers

The transfer fee depends on the recipient:

  • if a user transfers money to a bank account or card, they will have to pay from 1.5% to 2% of the total transaction amount;
  • if the transfer is made to a wallet of another payment system, the fee will be 5%.

For other operations, such as paying for mobile communications, there is no fee.

Transaction limits

Transaction limits are one way to protect users' money from unauthorized withdrawals. Thus, in a single transaction, i.e., a single transfer, a client can send no more than 15,000 RUB. Moreover, this amount includes the transaction fee as well. The monthly limit depends on the wallet status:

  • if the user has not completed identification, the total monthly transaction amount cannot exceed 40,000 RUB;
  • a user with the "Standard" category can carry out transactions up to 200,000 RUB;
  • there are no limits for the "Maximum" category.

How to check payment status

The company provides the opportunity to check the status of a payment or transfer made through the network's terminals. To do this, you need to:

  1. Go to the official wallet website via the link: https://qiwi.com/payment/category.
  2. Find the "Help" tab at the bottom of the page and follow it.
  3. Click the "Check status" button.
  4. Next, you will need to enter the information from the receipt: terminal number, payment date, phone number or account number, and transaction code.
  5. Click the "Check" button.

Note.

To prevent errors when filling out the fields, the website "prompts" clients by highlighting the necessary fields on a virtual sample receipt.

Potential difficulties that may arise

So, what difficulties might a person encounter when trying to pay for goods and services using a QIWI wallet:

  1. Unable to pay due to an operation error. To resolve the issue, try restarting your browser or mobile app and try again.
  2. Money is not arriving in the wallet of another payment system. A transfer from QIWI to another payment system can take several business days. If the money still does not arrive, management recommends contacting the recipient's support service.
  3. Incorrect wallet number entered when trying to transfer money from QIWI to QIWI. In this case, you can cancel the transaction if the transfer amount does not exceed 200 RUB and no more than a day has passed since it was made. Otherwise, you will need to submit a request to support.

How to top up a QIWI wallet

You can top up your QIWI wallet using any of the suggested methods:

  • by bank card (free of charge for top-up amounts from 2,000 RUB);
  • from a mobile phone balance (the cost of the operation depends on the telecom operator's rates);
  • via a QIWI terminal (free of charge for top-up amounts from 1,501 RUB).

It is also possible to top up the wallet via terminals of other payment systems, ATMs, communication store branches, via online banking, etc. In this case, the cost of the operation will depend on the service provider's rates.
