How to find out if a person has taken out a microloan
How to find out if a person has taken out a microloan
If you suspect that a loan was fraudulently taken out in your name, or if you cannot remember which financial institutions you applied to, you can check this information in three available ways: via a credit history bureau (CHB), via third-party websites, and via the FSSP. Let's discuss them in more detail.

Request your credit history from a credit bureau
A credit history bureau stores information about a person's taken loans and microloans, applications, debt load, and credit rating. There are several such organizations operating in the Russian Federation, the main ones being NBKI, Equifax, OKB, and Russkoe Standart. To find out which of them stores the data you need, you must send a request to the Central Catalog of Credit Histories (CCCH). You can do this on the Bank of Russia website or the State Services portal.
On the Central Bank website, you will need your credit history subject code. It is issued by the financial institution where you first applied for a loan. This number is individual, assigned once, and serves as your identifier in the database. You can find it at the bank or MFI that assigned it, at a CHB, or in the loan agreement itself. After you enter the code on the website, you need to fill out an application form. Within three days (usually sooner), a report listing the bureaus where information about your applications is stored will be sent to the email address you provided.
To request your history on State Services, you will need to log in and select the "Credit history bureau information" tab under the "Taxes and Finances" section. If your profile on the portal has already been filled out previously (full name, date of birth, and passport details), all that remains is to submit the automatically generated request. Please note that your account must be verified. The response usually arrives within 24 hours.
As a rule, you can request a credit obligations report from a bureau in several ways:
- visit the office in person with identity documents;
- send a notarized application by mail;
- download the application form from the website, fill it out, sign it with an electronic digital signature, and send it to the CHB's email address;
- register on the bureau's website by verifying your identity via State Services.
You can check your credit history for free only twice a year, and an unlimited number of times for a fee.

Use intermediary services
Intermediaries will draw up and send a request for your credit history on your behalf. You can contact a bank or MFI that provides such service, as well as use banking or third-party online services. At Sberbank and Binbank, users who have an online banking account can order a report, while Tinkoff has no such requirements. For confidentiality purposes, we recommend first contacting the financial institution where you are a customer. Some banks provide this service for free, while others charge a fee.

You can also use a third-party paid website to check your credit history, but you must remember that you are transferring your personal data and must be sure of the portal's security. In practice, this method is the fastest—registration is not required, and the result arrives almost instantly. The cost of the service usually ranges from 300 to 1,000 RUB.
Check the Federal Bailiff Service website
The fssp.gov.ru website stores a database of all enforcement proceedings. No registration on the portal is required; it is enough to provide your full name, date of birth, and region to see any existing debt owed to MFIs. However, it is worth noting that if a microloan has been taken out but the creditor has not yet applied to the bailiffs to collect the debt, you will not be able to find information about the concluded agreement and the debt amount in this way.
Can you check if another person has active loans?
Information about a loan taken out by another person can only be obtained on the bailiffs' website; in all other cases, this will require written consent (if obtained by a legal entity) or a notarized power of attorney from the potential borrower. A credit history contains personal data and cannot be transferred to any third parties (even close relatives).
If you see an active loan agreement in the report from the credit history bureau or on the bailiffs' website that you know nothing about, there are two options: either fraudsters took it out in your name using your personal data, or the creditor mistakenly entered information about you (perhaps confusing you with a full namesake). In any case, you must contact the creditor in person or via the hotline to resolve the situation. If it is confirmed that you have become a victim of criminal activity, file a police report.
