What are microloans?

A microloan is a type of loan officially authorized by the Civil Code of the Russian Federation in 2011. They are issued by microfinance organizations that have obtained a special license to do so.

Pay attention! There are many illegal companies on the market, so to avoid falling into scammers' traps before applying for a microloan, check whether the organization is registered in the register of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

The amount of a microloan depends on the IFC. The minimum amount is 500 RUB; the maximum is 100,000 RUB. Loan terms are also set by the MCC, ranging from a few days to a year. Since June 2019, the maximum interest rate has been set by Russian law at 1.0% per day. There are many companies ready to issue a loan for a lower fee or even for free.

Is it easy to apply for a microloan online?

Today, practically everyone knows how to use devices connected to the internet, so applying for a microloan should not cause any problems.

There are websites of microfinance organizations on the internet as well as services that help compare such companies to find more profitable offers. This way, you can review all terms and requirements for the borrower. To understand whether you can handle the financial burden before submitting an application, calculate the overpayment amount. To do this, find the loan calculator on the company's official website and enter the amount and term.

How to apply for an online microloan without rejection?

Once you have chosen a microfinance organization (or you can apply to several at once), proceed directly to applying for the microloan online.

  1. Register on the website of the chosen organization and create a Personal Account. If you have previously used the company's services, log in to your account using your username, password, or phone number. You can also log in using the Gosuslugi service or social networks.
  2. Then submit an application (usually a prominent button with large letters reading "APPLY").

An application is an online form containing personal information about the borrower. Here you must provide passport details (do not use false information!), a phone number where you can be reached, and the method for receiving the loan (to a bank card, in cash, or to an e-wallet).

  • Check that the form is filled out correctly. Errors and typos are a direct path to a refusal. The company will reject the application if the provided information is inaccurate.
  • Give consent to the processing of personal information. To do this, check the box in the corresponding window.
  • Submit the application to the lender for review.
  • Wait for the organization's operator to verify your details (this procedure usually takes 5-15 minutes). A notification about the loan approval is sent to the specified phone number as a short text message or
  • If the decision is positive, conclude the agreement online (without visiting an office). Read the agreement carefully, as it will specify the terms and repayment amounts based on the interest rate. It is precisely in the agreement that you will find information about penalties in case of overdue payments.

Note! Some borrowers think that an electronic signature has no legal force. This opinion is mistaken. A digital signature is equivalent to a regular one, and the person who applies it bears full responsibility for their actions.

  • You will be able to receive your money via your chosen method within 24 hours.

Microfinance institutions disburse non-purpose consumer loans, so they do not track what borrowers spend the received money on.

Microloan to a card: is it convenient?

One of the most popular ways to receive money is a microloan to a bank card. This is truly convenient—a plastic card is always with us (plus, all banks have online versions, making their clients' lives easier).

However, when the need for a microloan arises, the question often arises: "Are all cards suitable for this? Which payment systems do microfinance companies work with?".

Initially, all microfinance organizations transferred microloans only to cards of the VISA payment system, but the banking services industry is expanding and improving daily, so now any payment system of your bank card is suitable for microloans to a card: Mastercard, MIR, VISA.

Pay attention! Mastercard and VISA operate in different countries. The MIR card can only be used within the Russian Federation.

What needs to be done to get money onto a card instantly and without rejection?

This question is also very relevant today for those who are going to apply for a microloan to a card. Absolutely seamless microloan approval means that you have no overdue debts on previous loans or borrowings. That is, you made the payments required by the agreement on time, repaying the full amount conscientiously. If you are a newcomer to lending and the loan you are applying for is your first, your credit history is consequently in order, which does not cause doubts or distrust from the lender. In this case, the microloan will not be denied.

If your credit history is far from ideal, but your goal is to fix it, take out small loans. IFCs approve applications for 2,000 to 3,000 rubles. In the event that you are a completely malicious defaulter, have a "black" history, and have had the opportunity to "collaborate" with collection agencies, you will most likely be refused.

So, to be sure that the microfinance organization will definitely approve the loan, you need to:

  • repay taken loans and microloans on time,
  • carefully review loan terms (credit histories for potential borrowers are also discussed there),
  • and most importantly—calculate your financial capabilities before applying for a microloan.

Why do microfinance organizations refuse?

Not everyone manages to get a microloan without refusals. Sometimes an SMS with a short text message "Not approved" comes through.

There are several reasons for rejecting applications at an IFC:

  • Incorrectly filled out application data. Errors and typos were made.
  • Non-existent income was entered or its amount was inflated.
  • The applicant is under 18 years old or does not have registration within the country.
  • Company employees have reason to believe that the person who sent the application lacks full legal capacity.
  • Having open microloans or a conviction for serious crimes.
  • Damaged credit history.

By law, IFCs are not required to report to the client and indicate the reason for refusal. If you do not know why you were denied a loan, check your credit history yourself. To do this, submit an application to a credit history bureau (BKI). Applications are accepted free of charge twice a year.

What are the main requirements for the borrower?

We have already written about the need to review the microcrediting terms of a particular organization. But it is also important to know the basic requirements for the borrower, as this is also a factor in the probability of getting a microloan without refusal. The very first and universal one is citizenship (the client must be a citizen of the Russian Federation, which is confirmed by a passport), as well as reaching the age of majority (i.e., being 18 years old by the time of application).

Certificates required to obtain a microloan

The main document is a valid (non-expired) passport. Its details must be entered into the corresponding fields while filling out the application.

An additional document such as a SNILS may be required in extremely rare cases. Sometimes, to identify a client, microfinance organizations ask them to send a photo holding an open passport.

Employment and income level do not need to be documented, as the client independently manages loan repayment. Defaulting on payments may result in penalties (fines, frequent calls from debt collectors, a blemish on the credit history). So the choice is entirely up to you.

How to choose an MFI

There are many microfinance organizations operating on the Russian market: both new and old. With such a wide variety, it is difficult for an applicant to make a choice. To avoid mistakes, pay attention to the following details:

  • Time on the market and rating.

The higher the company's rating, the more reliable it is. On the other hand, well-known companies have many clients and now "filter out" applicants. Newly established institutions, by contrast, approve applications even for those whom competitors have rejected.

  • Presence of legal documentation on the website: licenses, MFO certificate, Loan Terms of Use.
  • Availability of bonus programs and promotions. They help secure a loan at a lower interest rate or win a valuable prize.
  • Methods for receiving and repaying loan obligations. The more, the better.
  • Maximum and minimum amounts. It is better to look for a company where you can get a large loan.
  •  Reviews.

Please note! Do not trust feedback left on the official pages of MFIs. Most of them are paid. Find independent resources and read what people are saying about the company you have chosen.

  • Loyalty towards the client.

Submit applications to institutions ready to finance not only citizens with official income, but also students, pensioners, the unemployed, and women on maternity leave. The availability of loan extension is another "plus." It is better to play it safe in advance than to figure out how to settle the loan if an emergency arises.
